Dr. Amy Lyon has had the honor of teaching elementary school students in rural New Hampshire for thirty-three years. Some of her favorite moments are when prior students stop her in public to reminisce and reconnect. Amy’s educational world has come full-circle in that she’s recently become a professor of education at her undergraduate alma mater, Colby-Sawyer College. She earned her Master’s degree at Dartmouth, and while conducting doctoral research at New England College, developed a year-long curriculum to foster grit in fifth graders. That was the beginning of her relationship with Angela Duckworth. She is excited for her new educational direction, which will include more research on elements of grit, and is ready to share her decades of practical experience with college students who want to become teachers.
